Catching Up On Some Sketchy Challenges

Oops... I forgot to post my Sketchy challenge from CANADIAN SCRAPBOOKER  from October and now November's is upon us!

So without further ado here are my latest sketchy challenge LOs.

Here's October's sketch by the talented SUE SYKES :

and here's my take on it....

I replaced the banners with hexagons. Little story to that ... I loved that Pink Paislee "Cottage Farms" from the moment I saw it but was having a hard time getting any. I managed to snag the frames and a pack of matching rub ons from the collection while I was in Phoenix in Sept with KELLY but couldn't find any paper. I used a Bo Bunny Gabrielle paper for the soft green and some Bazzill card stock for the dark gold color but couldn't find a pink to match. I improvised by punching pink hexagons from the packaging that the frames came in! Perfect match. This of course is a LO of my dear daughter, Chelsea, who recently turned twenty!!! GULP! I find that hard to believe as I'm sure I'm only about 28 ! LOL

On to November's Sketchy challenge. Here's Sue's sketch...

and here's my page...

I replaced the circular background with this Crafter's Companion stencil and some molding paste tinted with some  Vintage Photo Distress Ink refiller. Chelsea looked so cute in her Pebbles costume! The title font was free hand cut . I googled the Flintstones font and just eyeballed it when I drew it out...easy enough with a font that's supposed to look kinda rough anyway. My 'bones' were also hand drawn . I drew them on a piece of chipboard {from old packaging} then traced the shape onto ivory cs. I inked the edges with Vintage Photo Distress Ink and with a little distress ink on the pad of a Q-Tip I smudged in the shading at the rounded ends of the bones. I finished it with a smear of white paint up through the center of the bone for a little high lightening.

Head on over to CANADIAN SCRAPBOOKER and upload your take on their November Sketchy Challenge for a chance to be published!

A Puzzling Situation!

I've been working on a new art project! A bunch of my scrappy peeps over at CropCircles  and I are doing a puzzle piece swap. We each purchased a puzzle and sent a piece to each of the members in our group. We then alter each others piece in whatever way we wish and send them back to the owner . The altered pieces are then reassembled and Viola! We all end up with a unique piece of art filled with lovely little messages from our friends. Warning: LOTS of photos!

So here are the pieces that I have done so far....

 A pink Paislee rub on over Heartfelt Creation paper.

Heartfelt Creation paper and Studio Calico stars painted with Smooch

Awesome Stampendous metallic embossing powder { my new addiction thanks to KELLY KLAPSTEIN }on a wood piece.

Awesome paint splatter stamp colored with Smooch instead of inks.

Heartfelt Creation paper and Martha Stewart butterfly punch

Stampin 'Up embosslit butterfly

More Studio Calico wooden stars painted with Smooch

 Prima dancer charm and music note rub-ons by ?????

  Gabriella papers from Bo Bunny

More Bo Bunny papers

Can you guess that I did these three pieces at the same sitting? lol Bo Bunny again!

Lots of clock stamps...largest one stamped using the Stampendous emboss powder again.

This is one of the shabby colors in this line of Stampendous powders. Isn't it gorgeous???

Another in the metallic line of embossing powders...this one is called Hunter green

And this is the last one that I have done so far... I looooove the pink shabby embossing powder...soooo pretty!

I used a variety of stamped verses from several different sets including Unity Stamps, Inkadinkadoo,Tim Holtz and Maya Road.

I am soooo anxious to get my puzzle pieces back from the girls! Can't wait to get my puzzle re- assembled  and hanging on my craft room wall. I'll share that with you when it gets completed. Thanks for popping by today. Happy scrapping!

DT Post for CCC { Monograms!}

                  It's DT revel day at Catherine and Cathy Create and our tag challenge for October is

MONOGRAMS!

Here's my tag and I figured if I was making a pretty monogrammed tag to go up on my wall then I might as well use my own monogram, right?

Well I must confess that I don't actually own an alphabet set from Stampin' Up...yet! So I had to do a little improvising. I dug through my stamp sets and came up with a lovely Christmas stamp from two years ago called Christmas Postcard and by using my SU marker was able to color in just the "M" and stamp it onto white card stock.{ Perhaps I could suggest the alphabet stamp set to Santa? If anyone sees him could you pass that along ?}

Stampin' Up supplies for this project include:

Everyday Enchantment papers  126154
Christmas Postcard stamp 121428
Baja Breeze ink
Cherry cobbler ink and marker
Mambo melon card stock
white card stock
Dazzling Diamonds
Curly Label punch 119851
1 3/8" circle punch 119680
1" circle punch 118861
corner ticket punch
Natural Trim 129287

In case you are wondering where I used the circle punches.... I used them to make those paper flowers on my tag! Cute eh?

Thanks for dropping by today. Happy stamping! Toodles!

Chevrons!!!

 Good morning blog world! It's Chevron Day over at CATHERINE AND CATHY CREATE !

Chevron is the first monthly challenge at CCC for September. Play along with all three and you could win some blog candy!

My project is actually a birthday card for my oldest and dearest friend, Cynthia. { shhh...don't tell her!}. Cynthia hates it when I use that term...she says it makes her feel old lol . We have been friends for over 40 years having grown up across the street from each other...and that's the closest hint I'll give to our age!

 Here's a photo of Cynthia and I taken last week when hubby and I went out east for a few days.
It was nice to finally get to see her new house {which I'm ashamed to admit she and her hubby have been in for almost two years!!!}. Gosh I wish we lived closer to each other!

Here's my chevron project :

{ Little secret: I actually didn't have any chevron patterned paper so I made some!}

I simply punched out several rows of ivory card stock with an EK Success punch {called Zig Zag} and glued them down to a strip of Bermuda Bay cardstock. When it dried, I trimmed off the overhang, cut a "V" in the bottom of the strip and inked all edges with Soft Suede ink.

Stampin' Up supplies used in this project include:

Soft Suede , Bermuda Bay and Ivory card stock

Soft Suede ink
Bermuda Bay ink
Coastal Cabana ink

Apothecary Art stamp set { #125527}
Stampin ' Up Blender pen

Attic Boutique paper {#125407}

Please pop by CCC to check out the chevron projects by my fellow DT members. We'd love for you to share your chevron projects via the link up tool. Don't forget to participate in all three Sept challenges for a chance to win some yummy blog candy! Toodles!

G45 French Country Birdhouse

I've been playing with birdhouses again!

When I was shopping at Michael's during a trip to the east coast last week I stumbled across this adorable barn shaped birdhouse  and immediately thought " Ooooo...this would be gorgeous all dolled up with  G45  French Country papers!".

And it was!
What do you think?

and a side view...

The little cupola on top wasn't part of the original birdhouse. I created it from card stock and glued it to the top... What's a barn without a cupola , right?
 Here's a couple of more photos:

To view a couple of other birdhouses I've done
